The French Livestock Institute (IDELE) is a non-profit, non-governmental R&D organization appointed by the French ministry of agriculture as technical centre for agriculture. The French Livestock Institute aims at improving the competitiveness of herbivore farming and related value chains, while taking into account the diversity of national territories and livestock systems. Our research and development activities generate technical solutions to cattle, sheep, goat and equine livestock farmers, to value chains economic actors, complying with social issues such as animal welfare, traceability, environmental footprint.
The French Livestock Institute employs approximately 250 people, of whom about 200 are subject matter specialists, engineers and technicians posted either in one of the 12 regional offices or in Paris headquarters.
In the DISARM Project, IDELE is in charge of creating the community of practice and facilitating discussions. IDELE is also in charge of creating 40 multi-actor farm health plans, which will be used as case studies.
