Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LLU) is a multi-profile higher education and research institution with a solid tradition of close EU and transnational cooperation, established in 1939 in Latvia, Jelgava. The university has eight faculties: Agriculture, Veterinary Medicine, Engineering, Food Technology, Rural Engineering, Forest, Information Technologies, Economics and Social Sciences.
The LLU mission is to develop competitive intellectual capital on the basis of excellence in research, application of research findings, high quality of education and effective management of the university. In order to perform its functions and implement its goals and objectives LLU has developed three activity programs: studies, science and administrative and financial support for studies and research work.
LLU has experience in management and implementation of various EU programme research, development, education and innovation projects. Local, regional and international cooperation is established with universities, scientific institutes and centres of technology transfer. The international cooperation is based on 80 cooperation agreements signed together with 21 European higher and vocational education institutions. Thus LLU has profound experience with remarkable results in implementing research, development, communication and innovation projects.
LLU’s role in DISARM is to disseminate project results, success stories from poultry farms, using project results in the education process and in lifelong education for farmers and veterinary professionals.
