Brainstorm methods – The hot potato method
Brainstorming in this way is also a manner to prevent some participants of dominating the process. The idea is that the participants can only hold the hot potato for a limited time span (e.g. a minute) and present a solution or idea. After the minute they need to pass in the hot potato in order not to burn their fingers. This way, continuously and rapidly a lot of ideas can be proposed and collected. You can use a some item like a ball, but why not a real potato to effectively pass on to the other participants to take the word and present their idea. When structurally passing on the potato (clockwise or anti clockwise) you force every participant, even the shy and introvert people to share their ideas with the group.
