Why measuring and qualifying ABU?
If improving the health of your animals is an important goal for you, overal medication use and especiallly antibiotic use is an important metric to keep track of. It can indicate issues but at the same time can indicate your succes in eliminating heakth problems. Moreover, the increasing societal concerns of use of AB’s in livestock as a risk for rise of antibiotic resistance results more and more in ABU monitoring to become compulsory. So why not make advantage of this requirement as a tool to improve your animals’ health and farm performance in general?
