Step 3

Brainstorm methods – Mindmapping

Mindmapping: is a brainstorm process that aims to structure ideas around a central concept or problem. It is a very visual technique that allows to see relations between different parts or aspects of a problem. You start with a central concept or problem that branches out different aspects from which again branches can be drawn to other subaspects at another level in the farm or the animal. Moreover not only links to the original central concept can be drawn but also between the aspects at lower level. This way you can disentangle a problem and get to the roots of it and get insight into changes that need to be made to solve these underlying issues.

Take a look at some mindmaps we made about concrete problems in broiler, pig and dairy sheep and dairy farming to illustrate the technique of mindmapping.
